Teflon  product PTFE (TFE) and also PVDF  manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar which is mined in Mongolia and China. The world interest in this mineral has risen significantly, and also the supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance and very low co-efficient of friction (slippery) and is utilized throughout a bunch of purposes from non-stick fry kitchenware to ptfe tape for home use. This mineral is actually the key raw material in the manufacturing of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and several refrigerants.This increasing amount of demand paired with general shortage of raw materials is responsible for a dramatic price increase (almost double in the last year), shortages, and we expect these two factors to keep at it in the near future.
